What shelf-life information is included on the packaging of rice?

Processed rice may carry a "sell by" or "use by" date determined by the manufacturer. White rice usually has an expiration date about 2 years in the future, brown rice about 6 months. These dates are about quality rather than safety. Food quality refers to such characteristics as  the taste, texture, appearance, and nutritional value of food.
