How should avocados and guacamole be stored?

Avocados should be kept at room temperature until they have ripened. Do not refrigerate an unripe avocado.  Refrigeration will halt ripening in its tracks -- for good. Keep ripened avocados in the refrigerator, where they will keep for 2-3 days.

Both homemade and store-bought guacamole should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature of 33-38°F. Homemade guacamole should be stored in an air-tight container.
