Are the nitrites in cured ham a health risk?

Nitrites are preservatives and antimicrobial agents; they also help maintain the product’s color and flavor. After more than 50 years of studies, the debate about possible adverse effects continues. Nitrates have been implicated as a cause of a variety of illnesses including pulmonary disorders and cancer. In view of the uncertainty about health risks, it’s probably a good idea to eat products with nitrites (including hot dogs and luncheon meats) in moderation and perhaps to avoid them altogether during pregnancy.

Nitrites are said not to be healthy and this is a known fact. You should do everything to avoid such products, especially during pregnancy. By the way, do you know something about laser skin tightening? I need some advice on that if possible. Do you know someone who has already tried this medical procedure?
